How to Apply

To begin your application, create an account here. Once you create your applicant account, please select "M.L.S." for the application type. Penn State Dickinson Law does not assess any application fees.

The M.L.S. program will have three start dates each year: fall, spring, and summer. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with application deadlines approximately three months prior to the start of the next semester.

Application Requirements

The following application documentation is required:

: Applicants must submit a brief personal statement (less than 2 pages) that provides a rationale for pursuing an M.L.S. and specifically at Penn State Dickinson Law. This rationale should explain the applicant's career plans and the relevance of an M.L.S. degree in the realization of those plans.
: Applicants must submit a résumé or CV outlining relevant work experience, education, and publications.
: Applicants are required to have official transcripts submitted to Penn State Dickinson Law from each degree-granting, post-secondary institution previously attended. Transcripts must include both the original and, if needed, a certified English translation.
: TOEFL (>88 for test dates before January 21, 2026 or >4.5 for test dates after January 21, 2026), IELTS (>6.5), Duolingo (<120), or other evidence of English language proficiency. Applicants for whom English is a native language or who have received an academic degree from a college or university whose language of instruction is English meet the language requirement. In some cases, an oral proficiency interview may still be required. For applicants who are not native English speakers and have not received a degree from a college or university whose language of instruction is English, a TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo score, or similar, that meets Penn State Dickinson Law’s minimum requirements is required.
: Applicants are required to submit one letter of recommendation (one required, up to three accepted) from an academic or professional contact.
